It's already clear to me that I did not buy enough Forest Transition Banks. I only bought four.

The 3x3 grid is a bit odd, but hopefully Dwarven Forge will craft some other pieces to make the grid more usable with existing sets.

I was initially not super excited about Dreadhollow, I already have lots of traditional cloth and trees. But reading some of the ideas folks are posting is getting me jazzed up. The set is really quite attractive and kudos to the sculpting folks.

Peace

The tree variety packs combined with Forest scatter terrain packs should be good for use on traditional grid sizes when combining with CBS etcetra.

I am actually starting to think about how to mix DH with non-DF stuff. I have my Basius forest stamp and Happy Seppaku jungle vines and ferns. I Think i can sculpt some nice matching bases for some of my pieces. The castle ruins from Reaper bones "Dragons Don't Share" comes to mind. I have a year to prepare, but I still have CBS, KS2 and DoD to paint, ....

I’ve been thinking about this NON STOP. The 3x3 footprint is annoying, not impossible - means a lot of 1” filler pieces I’d rather not be OBLIGATED to use, but doesn’t rule out anything entirely out of hand.

My other big challenge, given how much I want to do, will be finding ways to keep my various layouts more varied than just “the same forest with different stuff in the middle.” (Alternatively, how to avoid the temptation to just do every variant - “Now this with a river! Now this with a hill! Now THIS with a river! Now THIS with a hill!”)

In terms of what I want to mix up?

Well, river and rope bridge, obviously.
Lake
Ruined tower
Ruins (resin)
Regular 4” tower (wizard or fortified)
Regular 6” tower (wizard or fortified)
Tower on an island in forest river
KSIII stone cottage (single cube)
KSIII Tudor cottage (single cube)
Small cottage on island in forest river
KSIII stone church (double cube with tower)
KSIII Tudor and stone rural home (complex)
ROTA ruins
Catacombs accessible through cave mouth
DoE accessible through cave mouth
Dungeon accessible through cave mouth

On board and looking forward to seeing all the above apart from:
ROTA ruins

That might cost us ........

100% agree ....making about total of about 72.3% :D

Toby did a build in one of the later livestreams - will try to capture a screenshot - of dreadhollow tiles with a ruined CBS Tudor house and dock on a water terrain tray - looked amazing.

Ruined CBS and Castles will look fabulous - even non ruined :)
as surrounds for both cities and castles they will look great.

As parks inside a city they will be good - don't see doing this much ourselves, don't have caverns and will have to see about integrating with DoD.

Hoping that some new CBS in KSVII will be more rustic and even more compatible with DH.

Yeah pretty excited down here to mix DH with our Castles and CBS :)

The one set of pictures with trees and caves DF did looked great. I am looking forward to making a much more tranquil and rustic city with some CBS and DH. I also wish they had kept the regular 8x8 or 4x4 but maybe it was the biggeest size they could do with all the rough top features. The cavern floor being 6x6 also reinforces that idea for me. Apparently 12x12 tray, 8x8 flat floors, 6x6 rough floors is what they can manufacture.
