I know I wanted some side-by-side pictures, so I looked up the pics of the prototypes I took at Gencon. If anyone wants to compare, here you go!

Well the fact that the factory is capable of turning out the kind of quality shown in the update is the encouraging part. Even if its close to what is shown then the woods is going to look very nice.

I really, really question this. I would think that the test pieces might be done to a higher standard than the thousands of pieces the factory actually paints. I am inexperienced with DF though, so is there a case where the test pieces of such an intricate piece looked so good and actually showed up at someone's door at the same level of quality?
Marble Floors from Dungeon of Doom are an example where the product I received (factory painted) equaled or exceeded my expectations from the photos. Not sure how they would stack up if put side-by-side with the KS proto-types or the factory samples, but some of the best factory paint I've seen from DF.

Just what I was thinking Droopy. When my company president comes by to visit, everything is spotless. But he usally only swings by twice a year, its not that clean all year long ! But I’m optimistic that they will be pretty close, which is all I ever ask for pre-paints.

Yeah it is amazing

Might have to look at the pledge manager a bit more and see if I can drop some stuff for painted forests, at least the floors. I know I can paint the trees.

Factory paint on Dreadhollow

The latest update shows the factory painted and Dreadhollow, and it looks absolutely stunning. There are maybe a few minor discrepancies between that and the hand painted version, but if that really does represent what the factory is going to be shipping, I would expect a lot of people to decide they really are ready to go in for Dreadhollow during a pledge manager.
