The Lavafall really rocks my boat. 8-)

I'm not even sure exactly what I'm seeing, but the 2D lava doesn't seem to blend very well with the sculpted pieces. How are they even lighting them...well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I think the rabbits are right; this is going to cost some cabbage.

My concern is that people need to see the offering in natural light so that there will be fewer misunderstandings, misconceptions and disappointments.
Completely agree, we need to see them in "normal" lighting.
I would also like to set ups with the KS2 lava.
Agreed on both fronts. Normal lighting. And with KS2 lava pieces.

Am I the only one who thinks this lava looks too much like toys, like plastic? The craving for realism (light, molten structures) did just the opposite for me. With the old hellscape, or even with the KS2 lava, my imagination could create the realism, but for these pseudo-realistic tiles, my imagination fails and leaves me behind with fancy lit plastic.

Sorry, I don’t want to break the hype. It is just: for me, this is not.
I think what you are saying is that with these latest lava tiles being so close but still not true lava they enter the uncanny valley where super close but just off enough to be annoying. Where as the old cheese look of the resin or the tomato sauce look of KS2 was good enough to start your imagination into believing it was lava. The same way that the old hand drawings of Bugs Bunny are believable but a 3D CGI Bugs Bunny is not.

While I understand what your are talking about I think anyone who purchases these new tiles and uses them for a game session will see them as truly awesome and while not Lava a fantastic attempted at creating it. That same person will likely pull out their resin and KS2 lava and think it looks just a little more like cheese and tomato sauce. Some what like how the first Toy Store movie looked pretty good in its day but it looks primitive today.

Either way good gaming to you with what ever lava terrain you have in the future.

This is a close up video that is on FB. I don't know of a way to post the video other than a FB link. https://www.facebook.com/DwarvenForge/v ... 761913142/

Dont think you will break the hype Rhizom :)

We think the lava river looks amazing, but get why you think that, though we strongly suspct should you get on in your hands you wont think that :)

Cant wait to see the KS and whats actually on offer together with 'natural light' pictures :)

One thing though - dont think its going to be cheap :(
But hoping for a good break up of pledges to suit all budgets and builds.
