Unless you're thinking about painting the hellscape exclusive pieces (lava rivers...) I don't recommend painting hellscape pieces to make regular cavern paint schemes. Hellscape is challenging to paint and I don't recommend using it unless you need the yellow glowing effect. Just use regular cavern pieces, much less headache.

Of course, If you're looking at using the exclusive pieces go for it (i.e. Slimescape viewtopic.php?p=185512#p185512)
I'm planning to steal the slimescape idea myself, but I'll be spray priming the pieces to try to minimize the fuss and forgoing the transparency. I'm also planning a necrotic sludge variant.

We were thinking just banks... but fair point, I had not considered the base material.

That slimescape is pretty awesome but that is not a project we have the time to add to our list of projects.

There is just so much more to DF than we realized, you folks keep surprising us!

I love Hellscape for adding large cavern banks in bulk and the rivers, but I believe the additional cost for the same sculpts in the yellow, translucent Dwarvenite is considerable. It’s a great option unpainted for pieces that aren’t available in regular caverns (the new spouted floors are fantastic!) or likely to be restocked, but wouldn’t be my choice.

That being said, if I’m ever able to (and they’re ever back in stock) a sludge or acid river sounds like a LOT of fun!

I agree with Rabit. Good work guys.
I only bought one piece and didn't even paint it to really go with lava theme.

One other thing, the compound used for the Hellscape yellow tiles has (or at least had) a real outgassing problem for aroma for a while after unboxing. Mine were very new and "fresh from the factory" and the problem has diminished with time, but if anyone is sensitive to that it could be an issue. Mine spent a few days total out on the patio deck airing out in the sun before being painted, and that helped a bunch.

I was reading thru this thread quickly and as I was going thru this post, I thought to myself, this looks like something William must have done, so I scrolled back up to check and sure enough, more of your sometimes daring work with modifying tiles from DF. Nicely done.

I get way more ideas than I have capital from you folks. The obsession is real! DF is just too much fun, and that’s BEFORE you ever get it in a gaming table.

Was flipping thru the news this morning and noted the pictures from Iceland about the volcano and the erupting and flowing lava. Pretty cool and looks like DF did a pretty good job on matching the color palette.

We have been following the Geldingadalur volcano.

Totally agree that DF got the colour palette bang on.

BTW if your interested there is a live feed, been fascinating to see how it has evolved and grown over the week.
