I will keep using my KS2 lava (2 cavern and 2 river) anything I get needs to add to this not obsolete it.
The new KS 6.66 4x4s look great and the new sculpts are fantastic. But I still really like the versatility of the 2x2, where I can make a small stream or river or lake. Part of me wishes DF would just rerun the KS2 river moulds with the translucent orange. Maybe do the other river suggestions from the older threads. I would be happy with flat lava, make a wavey insert I could put on top, painted as lava or water rapids.

I have two sets of painted lava from KS2 so I really want to use them with anything new.

i am not or less interested if it is an either/or kind of thing. But from what I have seen they will fit together pretty seamlessly.

Of course i need to paint them so they fit together seamlessly also. Or pony up a lot more money for DF to paint them.

I fully intend to use both.
I have three sets of painted lava river and two sets of painted lava cavern from KS2.
The KS2 rivers will be in flatter areas where the "current" would slow down (and the river would probably be wider... the way the tiles are made I can have an open lava tile between the two bank tiles) and the new stuff with the flow marks will be where things are moving more quickly. At least that is how I envision it at the moment.

edit: hmm... if I could just make some individual, or small groups of, bubbles that I could drop on the tiles at random...

The rivers seem to match very well with KS2 lava rivers, so that is helping push me to getting at least some magma river pieces. I also did not get the lava painted pieces, though I have dome some of my own.
Are you wanting to mix-and-match to avoid extra costs, or do you see other benefits to using both? I'm on the fence myself since I have some lava river already...

I just bought my first 2 sets of KS2 lava tiles from the webstore a couple weeks ago and they are gorgeous! Much better looking in person than in the webstore.

I don’t know about the lava cavern pieces though, didn’t get any of those.

They may be compatible, but I’m selling my single set of KS2 lava on eBay anyway and starting fresh.

The painted KS2 lava river sets have disappeared from the store? Are they coming back? Should we get the transition pieces if you can't get the sets? They are already popping up on the bay for outrageous prices.
