PIECES - BATTLE BOARDS

Post by JenneyOC » Tue Aug 11, 2020 4:46 am

Q: Do the mega builds contain battle boards?
A: They do not, the Mega builds focus on fully sculpted floors.

-----

Q: The battle boards have a metal plate?
A: Yes the Battle Boards will have metal plates inside similar to the Terrain Trays.

-----

Q: what is the battle board sizes... 12x12? and 24x24?
A: 12x12

-----

Q: does the 24"x24" Mountain battle board have a grid?
A: A grid is planned, yes. The current prototypes have a grid more subtle than the first ones shown on the Twitch channel.

Q: There are mountain and forest battle boards. Why does the swamp only have a mat instead of a battle board?

A: (Elye) We made Battleboards for ground-level terrain (12mm elevated above your table), and made Terrain Trays & Texture Mats for water-level terrain (not elevated above your table). Swamp ground and Forest ground are essentially interchangeable so you can use your Forest Battleboards to make Swamp ground. The Swamp banks look great up against the Forest Battleboards. We will be offering some variety on water-level options (Terrain Trays and Texture Mats) which will give you some nice variety in your swamp builds.

Q: Is it possible to make an addon with 2 different boards? 1x Forest, 1x Mountain

A: It’s an interesting idea. One that we are discussing. Its a good suggestion. Thank you.

-----

Q: how heavy are the battle boards?

A: They will weigh a little bit more than Terrain Trays, but not much. Less dense, though. They still have a metal plate inside. The ABS portion will have a rigid infill structure but it's not solid, there's some air in there.

-----

Q: There had been discussion on the forums on the BattleBoards. Specifically that the forest graphic on the BB doesn't match up as well with the forest tiles/banks. My 'old' forest terrain trays match up well with forest tiles and want to make sure that the battleboards match up equally as well.

A: The Wildlands website page on Surface Layers includes a demo GIF of the new Battleboard / Terrain Tray art alongside forest tiles: https://cx.dwarvenforge.com/battleboards-terrain-trays/ Also, Battleboards and Terrain Trays will be demo'd extensively on the livestream tomorrow, so that would be a great opportunity to ask questions and see things demo'd.

-----

Q: Any reason why battle boards are not double sided?

A: They are designed to have magnets on the otherside, so you can flip it and use a Terrain Tray raised up to floor level. The magnets are also used for stilts to raise the battle board for elevation builds.

-----

Q: What is the difference between Terrain Trays, Battle Boards, Water Mats, and Floor Tiles.

A: Terrain Trays are sheets of metal surrounded by Neoprene with a printed image on both sides. They are 12”x12” and textured. The do have a bit of fabric overhang around the metal.

Battle Boards
are the thickness of a DF Floor, made of plastic, also with a metal plate, with a printed image on the top and magnets on the bottom to support stilt pillars to raise the tray up, or to adhere a terrain tray to raise it up to floor level. They are flush to edges, with no overhang.

Water mats are just mats with the textured images but contain no metal. They are 24”x24” and single sided.

Floor Tiles are full sculpted floor pieces that come in various sizes from 1”x1” up to 6”x6”.

Q: Given the metal plate on one side, and magnets on the other, would a big stack of these bad boys magically stay in a nice stacked organized alignment?

A: Yes, they will stand nicely.

-----

Q: Do the battleboards not have magnets on sides to connect to other battleboards? I thought I had seen that in one of the videos. The image also seems to have a hole on each side.

A: They do not have side magnets. The cost for that came in too high.

-----

Q: Are the battle boards always painted for unpainted pledges.

A: Yes. Just like Terrain Tiles, and the Mat. They are printed and not painted so they will be the same in painted and unpainted pledge levels.

Q: Are the holes we see in the sides of the battleboards going to stay in the final design? So we can insert our own magnets if we wish?

A: There will be no holes on the sides. This was an early prototype that was changed.

-----

Q: Are the battleboards as tough as dwarvenite

A: They will be made of Gorgonite which is extremely tough. It’s more rigid than Dwarvenite and less flexible, but holds a straight line better.

-----

Q: Can we see Battleboards in action?

A: Checkout 1:42:30 to see a battle board slid into the large wyverstone LIVESTREAM build. Can create a spot of complete flat to allow a castle/ruins/tower builds that needs the complete level. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/713626510? ... zwX2KRa0rQ
