New KS7 & Older KS6 escarpments on Negative space

Post by gwhansen » Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:09 pm

any idea how would you utilize the older KS6 DH escarpment next to one of the new KS7 escarpments on a negative space build (like water terrain tray)?

The new escarpment sits right on the tray but an old DH escarpment next to it would have the square edges. I can't envision how banks or trifecta would work to fix the old one in this situation.

I certainly do not know for sure, but i imagine the new 6 inch trifecta piece might well match the KSVI escarpments well.

That's a great question. I bought the KS6 DH escarpment and banks (without any DH tiles) to use as vertical wargaming terrain on mats or terrain tiles. I would have preferred flush escarpments that did not need banks. Is that what KS7 escarpments provide? I would love to see how to make these compatible for both an interface with a terrain tray / mat and DH tiles. It seems the model for how DF works changes with every new KS. :-(

Are they the same height?
I use mine on a mat.. so really hope they are indeed the same height.

Yes, it looks like you can use the KS7 ones flush right on a battle mat or terrain tray. The new ones are also the same height as the old escarpments so that's a win. However I want these new ones to play nice with my older escarpments in negative space (ie battle mat or terrain tray) sans floor tiles. Example: KS7 escarpment -next to- KS6 escarpment -next to- KS7 escarpment on top of a water terrain tray.

If I just need some of the new trifecta ledges then I'm ok with that. But if I need trifecta ledges and banks to make it all work then that is a problem. Cost aside it would be too fiddly.

Be careful when DF says cliffs and escarpments, as they are different sizes, the cliffs being a floor height shorter. The waterfalls are cliff height. They did kind of mislabel one of the new escarpments, which is really cliff height. I forget which one right now, sorry.

I think the hidey hole and the waterfall are the shorter 'cliff height' pieces
