May 2007 Contest -- The Den of Evil!

Post by admin » Fri Jun 01, 2007 10:57 am

The contest is now officially closed. Thank you all for submitting an entry. It is going to be very tough to pick a winner. Stefan and I will hammer that out very soon and post the winner here. We will also post the sets for the June contest at that time.

Again, thanks for all your cool entries!

Here's my Temple of Ash layout where the followers of the great warrior Ash guard the Necronomicon from the forces of the Deadites. The Necronomicon lies in the Void Pool, accessible only to those who know the secret incantation.

The layout has two things I particularly like - it has symmetry and the shape of a real building. I used the four elbow corridors and the columns to prop up the well of souls and I'm really happy with how it makes that part of the layout pop.

mcwulf -- I really like your idea with the barracaded storeroom and I could almost swear when I saw shot #4 that your book of evil was... "floating"!! That looks so cool! Shot #1 is my favorite though, with that bird's-eye view perspective...nice work and nice layout!

Good luck in the contest!

Shoesan -- Your layout design is nothing short of SPECTACULAR! When I saw photo #2, I immediately had a flashback of my character running through Tal Rasha's tomb in Diablo...heh. Cleverly done with plenty of originality points here. Shot #4 is my personal fav -- Fantastic work here!

95svtcobra -- don't fret about picture upload issues. You were able to get some great shots in there and I really love your layout in shot #1. I must tip my hat to you for getting the most "color" of this set into a single photo. I thought that shot #3 was the most colorful of all entries so far...very cool, actually.

Good luck guys!

Ok,

First time uploading a setup. Everyone has been an inspiration, so here go....Please comment on my camera work (novice for this stuff) so I can improve for future layouts....

The first shot shows the lengthy approach to the profane sanctuary.....

The second, a 3/4 shot of the upper level of the evil temple. Note the pits for easy sacrificial remains disposal

None of the band of explores noted the swirls of dust in the alcoves until they solidified into skeletons guardians Shot 3)

The approach will spell doom to any intruders (shot 4)and

the last shot is a clearer overhead of the last area of the temple.....

Thanks for looking and hope to post more soon
