If many of Williams best mods do not become pieces as part of KS5, I suggest he starts a store right after the KS ends.

I know I would happily pay for his expert mods.

Very cool ideas William!! Thanks for sharing.

I don't have the tools to cut my DF pieces, but I'm definitely going to "borrow" the creative uses for the assassins perch. :D

Here are the other ideas -

Using the Assasin's Perch to mount a sign on a roof. Depending on the way the magnets are set into both the sign and perch matter. If they are not compatable the magnets will be atracted together, in order to work well the sign magnet should rather stick to the wood platform or other side with criss-cross wood. A;so the perch platform edge that sticks out can be a problem. Good Luck

Josh, you can add some pictures of mods you've done or just links to your posts would be good.
Anyone. I'm going for an all-in-one idea thread for CBS tips and mods. :| :?:

Josh, I noticed your corner cut when you posted the pictures. It's a neat idea, but I was pondering the way to close it off without a 135 degree post/wall combo. Kinda tough to do without custom pieces. The easy thing about the 2x4 floors is you just have to cut a wall down the middle and your there. Although the open 1/2 wall connection can pivot like a door when you bump it, so I can't wait for the next CBS KS to add these with the 'V' for 1/2 walls.

C-mon Rune, with the metal plates in place, they just guide your knife right down the ridgeline, it's the thick gable walls that were hard. Also removing the bottom plates was a pain with a few of them and I even had quite a few roofs to choose from. I tweeked them all to see if any were not glue as well as others and found about 5 that poped a corner or two while testing.

Tips, Tricks, Mods #4
Different ways to mount Signs and other things about the CBS Magnetic Pieces.

First off - Metal plates and nail files (what?)
My group of signs from KS3 stuck to those metal plates from the roofs.

Here is a sign I modded to make it look as if a chain broke and the sign is hanging off, the only problem is the ABS has memory and keeps wanting to repair itself. I think I'll just cut it off and loop a wire link to hang the sign from one side.
Sm3 Metal Plate Under Floor 03.jpg

Small plate at corner for corner signs. Could be a thinner playe so it doesm't stick out as much as this one from the 1/2 roofs. I stuck the shields on to hide the plates from the sides, but a plate the width of the magnet would be great. The nail files are narrow, but have a rounded end so it might not hold good enough. I don't really know, because I didn't try it.

What about a paper clip instead of a magnetic wall? I made these quickly to show idea and realised I made them a bit long, so I would make them a shorter length if I really were to use them. I would also make them straighter and paint them stucco to blend in.

I like it, and it looks simple, but I think many know that it truly isn't because u need an exact cut. That takes guts, William. I'll admire it from afar, as I don't have the intestinal fortitude to hack these apart. Funny, I'm a modder and I don't think I'll undertake this project.

There are a lot of wonderful mods here. I'd love to try some out myself. I did cut the corner off one of the floor tiles, but it kind of needs some custom walls with corners now :-)

I really like your corner posts with the 1/2 cut vee so that the posts look nice and square, and the vee is only needed for the railing.

I've lied, I will be doing the signage post next. There is a reason I have to show this mod first and I will point it out as we go.

Edit - I would have posted pictures of these proccesses, but my computer died awhile back and I lost the photos. Remember to BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM...

Tip/Mod #3 - Shed, 1/2 Roof -

I wanted a way to cover a 40' (or wider) floor with something that would slope up to the next level. I've seen large roofs done with an upside down roof over two side by side then the final roof covers the one fliped upsidedown. What a waste of roofs. I also wanted to use the space upstairs, so I cut a roof down the ridge to cover the 10' area to each side of the upstairs.

When I removed the plastic plate set into the bottom of the roofs and 1/2 roofs I noticed the metal plates for the magnetics was just glued in place under the two roof planes. It's fairly easy to avoid the plates when only cutting down the ridge with an X-Acto or utility knife. To fit the new shed roof under the eave above, you will need to shave/cut down top the about 3/16" or so. Then it should slide under without picking up that side of the roof above it. The Gable End Walls are pretty thick, but just rock back and forth on them and it will work. Good Luck if you try.

I also cut Four Tudor walls and 2 Wood Floors in half to mix things up. I couldn't wait for the new CBS coming in the Castle KS and upcoming KS's. I needed the flexability in design. :geek:

Edit - "Yes, I trimmed four posts for just railings. I've got a serious problem here!"

On these two 1/2 roofs and one full roof I have removed the metal plates to cut those into hip pieces (I've not had the guts to try it yet, but I will get them done someday.)

Thanks guys, I just love sharing the ideas I see or come up with (I love seeing your ideas too). Kitenerd, you're always so good with story side of things, you must be a veracious reader. Great story line there, the Bronze Lion - Protector of Valoria. I was just thinking of a baddie, but a goodie works too.

Anyway -
TIP #2 - Adding PUNCH to the interior lighting of your buildings, when viewing from outside.
Paint the underside (CEILING) of the Floors and Roofs to relfect more light. I used Pokorny White and Pokorny Cardboard on the underside of Ceilings that might be exposed if viewed from below like a deck or balcony. As you will see in the photos I screwed up with one open area below two floors, one is white and the other is cardboard. Oops  This is a project anyone can do and with any type paint. These took two coats to look decent, but it's not really for viewing anyway.

Floor Ceilings - (Yes, some are modified, I'll get into those at a later date.)
