that was the part I was testing... I hate the FB interface because it's not user friendly, but from what I can tell, the image in the album was set to Friends. I figured this would be the case since the image link is directly to the CDN where the image is stored and not being accessed through FB itself which would enforce the restrictions.
That being said, it's probably a good habit to make it public. I'm mostly interested so that I can say this is another way to add images and not have to constantly remind people they need to set them public on FB.
