I'm also not very much into lava terrain (Hellscape is one of the few sets I don't like that much and I'm not buying), but I guess we'll se what it is in detail :-)

Unfortunately that is a bit of my thinking too. Lava looks cool, but how much do I use it?

How do you think they will paint the lava portion for the standard paint scheme? Just floor pieces? Water? Oozing mud? etc.
Like lava, I’d hope. Something like they did/are doing for the crystal caverns “regular paint” variant:

I trust DF will figure out a way to make it look great.

I’ll be much more interested in these new pieces with the standard paint scheme.

The lava should be surrounded by blackened stone, of course. But I can only remember lava coming up once in the last 30 years of D&D- and even then, the players dealt with it by staying far, far away from it.

So I’d rather trade a little verisimilitude for the ability to use a bit of lava with my standard Caverns floors and walls.

I think there will be more new sculpts than Nate is implying. Based on the picture, I think there are at least 4 new sculpts there. I think we see new lava river sculpts in these pictures instead of negative space - corners are clearly visible in the pictures below. I think there is a new 4x4 floor piece with repainted CD stalagmite pack.

Sorry, after post, the comment for the river sections is reversed - the straight piece and turn are reversed.

Assuming we hit some SG's there will also be some of the new pieces offered in standard caverns paint to expand your Caverns Deep collection.
Sure, that’d be nice... but the alternate paint scheme we really need is a lava-meets-ice-caverns theme, titled

That whole setting in Hellscape colors would be a wonderful Mount Doom.

Cracking update Nate - thanks :)

puts us in our place predicting an October launch! :o

Be interested if it suffers any Christmas hangover, hope not.

KS6.66 will be interesting, hoping for some scatter terrain and some more lava negative space.

Be interesting what the shield will look like :)

Nice update on KS6, rabbit those molds are big!
