Very nice mod Josh, I do love the idea of the flush floor. :ugeek:

Will you be magnetizing a CBS doorway wall, so it can mount the same way? I kind-of wish we had a centered doorway for this and other applications. Maybe a small double door not as wide as the large double we have now, but maybe between the single and double width doorways. A french door with window openings or something would be cool too.

I've been back for almost a week, but have been too busy to get to my "tree" ideas, Maybe in a week or two I'll get back to that thread with some ideas. My problem there is that I could see a whole KS done just for trees and that is uber-unlikely.

ferrous nail heads might work, too. cuts the number of magnets in half, and no issues with polarity mismatch...
Nail heads would work too, for sure. But they'd still need to be cut so might as well stay with the rods which are, most importantly, the right diameter. :-)

Here's rhe results of adding magnets... I haven't tried the door wall yet... will do that later.

This is the weight I added to test how secure the magnets are. They're small, as you can see in the first pic, but there's four points of contact.

Collaboration, hells yeah! I like both the idea of attaching it to a door wall and doing it with (hidden) magnets so it's not permanent. Great suggestions, guys! :D

I am also going to cut a bit of the balcony floor off so the rails sit flush and don't have to do any filling in... just a straight pin and glue, effectively... or magnetizatiin, as it were. I'll give it a try tonight and post results.

Use magnets embedded in doorwall, and corresponding magnets in facing rail.

Maybe a metal plate extending out from between floors to support load (ala the floor extenders shown earlier in thread)?

Great mod Josh!

It's got me thinking...you could cut the balcony off and then reattach it to a CBS wall. The arch wall would look nice and a wall with either double or single door in the middle would look functional. You could probably reattach it in a way so that it sits flush with the floor like in your current mod.

Thoughts?
