I'm planning unpainted as well and really love this look. Please share your painting wisdom, Oh Guru of the Underdoom!!

I'll get the paints together and write up a process for this soon.

iPaint, we demand an update! If your process has a lot of different layers and steps, could you also post a "simplified" version that aims for the same basic look with a simpler palette and quicker process?

Please do post something, even just a short text description, before the KS is over as I am seriously waffling between getting Underdoom unpainted and doing your method or getting it pre-painted. The sooner I can mull over your technique and estimate how time consuming or quick it is, the better I can decide my pledge! Thanks again!

This is so cool! This is how I'm going to paint ALL my caverns.
Zie ginds komt de stoomboot
Uit Spanje weer aan.
Hij brengt ons Sint Nikolaas,
Ik zie hem al staan.
Hoe huppelt zijn paardje
Het dek op en neer!
Hoe waaiend de wimpels
Al heen en al weer!

That is really nice, but I cannot see the blue at all.
A pretty decent Docent of Valoria

Hey all, thanks for the kind comments on this paint scheme. Here's a few more pics of a random layout from the pieces of a KS2 base set plus Kickstarter add-ons.

The photos really wash out the blue of the tiles for whatever reason, and make them look more greyish black than blue, but the natural tones are really nice and subtle. The paints are not glow in the dark to my knowledge, though they do sort of pop in low light conditions, especially on the stalactites and calcium deposit areas.

I'll get the paints together and write up a process for this soon.

Hey all,

Here's the first few painted pieces for my Underdark caverns from Kickstarter 2. Basic painting was pretty easy, the fun bit came from some cool neon paints and washes that really make things pop.

I'll need to find some more colors to use for the mushrooms, but I really like the neon green in the cracks, makes it look like some kind of bio-luminescent algae is growing.

I was also going to try a purple scheme, but I think I like this one too much to bother :D Excited to see what new things Dwarven Forge will give us for KS6.
