It is not kind to call your prodigy rocks. :D :D
<ahem> My prodigy? I think, sir, you meant my 'progeny'. And they, together, don't weigh 300 dragons, much less 1300.....

Shame on her, snicker, snicker.

Those columns go for lots-o-cash up here for fountain stones.

I think good Basalt needs to be done in individual pieces, with varying hex sizes and fractured walls...probably in Fimo or something similar. The basalt I'm seeing (and its a lot, my lovely wife has become a geology student in retirement - seeing rocks is a major feature of every vacation now). One road trip a couple of years ago cause a blowout and nearly wrecked our van b/c she had 1300 pounds of rocks stashed in it...

anyway, I think I may do basalt myself.

I would love a set of William's basalt, though mostly for outdoors than caverns. As for a DF version, I am all for it. Crystal is good, but I'd prefer that as an accessory, not baked into walls and floors.
Sweet! Put me down for 3 sets please. ;)

If you look at the game livestream, it appears that some of the crystal pieces could easily be mistaken for basalt. But so far they're only accents on a regular cavern.

Williams basalt pieces always looked great. DF should listen to his sage advice ;) Perhaps hire him to sculpt for you :)

I should remind everyone, Basalt does not always show up as hexagons. 3,4,5,6,7...sides usually. That's what makes designing them so difficult. If they were all 6 sided, then Heroscape is where we would end up. They shouldn't be a grid for movement, but a non-grid for hindered movement is how I see it. ;)

Interested in Basalt Cavern and Crystal Cavern set Sculpts

Post by jgardner44 » Thu Jul 12, 2018 4:47 pm

Dear Dwarven Forge artists,

Please consider adding a set of Basalt Cavern pieces. The hexagonal designs from basalt sculpts would be a wonderful visual addition to the cavern collection!

I can imagine if you used a set of sculpts like this and made them as ice cavern transparent terrain from them, the hexagons would look like crystal caves, and fortress of solitude, etc!

If done in transparent green they would look like a cavern filled with emeralds, they could be used to make the emerald city from the wizard of OZ, they could look like kryptonite for superhero games etc!

Would anyone else be interested in these?
