But as always, I encourage everyone to experiment and make your stuff unique. You can easily do better than the factory if you take a little time!
But that can be the rub....time. With all the other options and terrain arriving unpainted, some of this madness had better arrive at my abode in "ready to go" condition and DF was nominated for that role. Also with the HUGE number of pieces coming from DF, that would have been a LOT of painting.
Oh, for sure. The last 2 projects, I've bought >50% painted for this reason. I buy things I think will be fun to paint as unpainted, or things that I don't trust the factory to do a great job on, or things I want a custom job on (Jade Temple this time.)

Although, sometimes things I don't think the factory will do a great job on they end up knocking it out of the park. LED Floor pack from Castles was very well painted, and it looks like Burrows from DoD might be in this category too.

Properly polished paint guides (hopefully even with videos) are planned, but probably can't happen until after the next Kickstarter madness has subsided.

Here's the thread with my basic & easy faux-factory paint scheme. It's a pretty decent ringer, I would update the drybrush mix to be around 60% Stone Edge/40% Olive though.

Sir GeekJeff did an unofficial paint guide that is pretty good for vaulted wall pieces if you're looking to match factory paint. In the past, fiddly bits never got a paint guide, so I wouldn't expect much beyond a formal layout of what Sir GJ already posted. Maybe Burrows, but we haven't received those yet.

Any word on a KS5 painting guide? It looks like an easy paint scheme to figure out but nice to know for sure.

New KS5 Paints in the store

Post by oddbender » Fri Jul 13, 2018 11:51 am

I was just placing an order through the store and noticed new paints:

Pokorny Paint Colours (Gorgon Bronze) NEW!
Pokorny Paint Colours (Sysuul Silver) NEW!

I didn't think I'd be so excited to see new paints, but I suppose it's a bonus since they're both metallic.
