I want to take time to thank everyone for the nice comments.

I only have ten columns. I might need to reconsider.

For some reason we ordered two Emperor's Palace Mega Pack - Marble Ltd Ed.
No idea why - other than it looks so fething cool.

Oldent is now giving us ideas for a massive grand hall filled with Pillars, a quick count of the pillars in our order gives us 16 Marble, 2 Jade and 2 Ancient ones, blimey! shame they didn't do any ruined ones ;)

Can't seem to see your picture or access dropbox GardenDM - will try again when we get back to the Warren.

I think lining the walls with golems would be very cool

The Emperor's palace turned out to be a useful addition.
Ooooooh, very nice combo there.

I love this pack, with luck it will hit the store here soon, will be in for sure. Unpainted. The pieces in this pack IMHO are very valuable in builds almost to the last pieces. The pit and throne are nice decorations, rest of it, very useful!

An Ode to the Emperor's Palace (and Dias pieces in general)

Post by GardenDM » Sat Sep 15, 2018 12:32 pm

As mentioned in my other thread, I'm doing final inventory after my last shipment arrived and discovering fun things.

This thread is an ode to the Emperor's Palace (marble in my case) Mega Pack. Please post your pictures, thoughts, and feelings about this set (and Diases in general) here.

A few observations (you know I love lists!):
  • The marble paint is incredible - I was most nervous about this paint scheme out of everything from KS5 and it blows my expectations away. All the marble floors are fantastic. Pillars are good, if not quite as nice. Trap door is...eh, but fixable.
  • This mega pack provides tremendous coverage and build options! Between this and Gorgon Tiers, I've got way more dungeon coverage than I can practically use most days.
  • In fact, while I love the marble and am glad I grabbed this (it's limited edition, yo!), I doubt I'll ever be able to use this much marble at once. That said, the large floors are still great for elevation, particularly if I build on top to hide the marble when it's not needed.
  • Diases! Holy smokes, DF outdid themselves with these. I spent 30 minutes last night just shuffling them around into new patterns. Just switching a single straight dias corner for a curved dias corner can give a completely different feel to a layout. It's a genius system and is super flexible.
Whew, with all that said, I accidently made this last night and it sums up how I feel about the Emperor Mega Pack, Diases, and the whole Dwarven Forge Crew:
