Nice build :)

Standout for us is the Gargoyle detail - nice :)

Looks like Pink Panther has been attacked with a hot wire, knive, then beaten with a rock, smothered in gooey paint and then frozen in Carbonite and no one noticed .....sniff

I want to suggest a craft store and a fabric store like Joanns.

The Lemax water mats are in the Christmas village section. The textured felt squares are $.25.

The riser is a book

This is a queen size bed sheet.

I like the narrow causeway, I would cut one from insulation foam.

Image

I used a hot wire cutter but a bread knife will work.

Image

This texture was created by beating the foam insulation with a brick and adding sand.

Image

Cut the insulation to the shape you want then texture and paint.

Image

Beat it with a rock

Image

Paint with white glue and black

Image

Add sand while the paint is wet. Dry brush when the paint is completely dry.

I really like the lay out. It would be worth it to me to go all out

Always check remnants first - often they have very unique fabric - usually $2-4 per yard (they do half off remnant sales) - sometimes you can get fake leather, or "suede" - all sorts of stuff - very random - always worth checking sometimes you luck into just the right fabric

Thanks for the tip on felt - I'm going to get a piece. I have a water terrain tray set but just not enough of them for this long layout.

I like this. Clever use of pieces (and not that many really) and plot make this a nice game idea. I know this is a test build but go to your local craft store and buy a big piece of felt for your water below. It’s quite cheap and will help your pieces stay in place, especially the resin ones with the felt sticker on the bottom.

Ruined bridge encounter area "Test build"

The adventure I am running will take the party into a deep gorge, narrow paths, multiple bridges and tall crumbling causeways link the way through the gorge.... far below a river flows rapidly, an unpleasant sight from the ruined stoneworks a hundred feet above. 8-) but it was not always so .....

The party pursues some "bandits" who have taken scrolls and unknown relics (unbeknownst to them they are necromantic relics) and this gorge was a very ancient ceremonial path a part of a "pilgrimage" where nobles could come to revere their ancestors who were buried in elaborate tombs within the canyon. From the high vantage of the bridges , their towers and balconies they could preform rites, etc ... ages ago the practices turned dark (beginnings of necromancy) and now the place is still and cold, but the passing of the bandits with the relics has "rekindled" the powers of this now darksome place .... skeletons climb up the high piers and columns of the bridges ... and the party is surrounded!

A bit of imagination as this section is actually 60-70 feet above the waters below:

Skeletons behind as well...

The party wizard prepares a spell as more skeletons crawl up from below!

A ladder to a lower section of the ruined causeway:

Off to the left a solitary natural pillar of rock , now cut off from the main bridge, is topped with a lowering barrow!

The party thinks maybe the "awakened" source of power that is drawing and animating the skeletons is in the dark barrow.... they could be right, but how to get there?

Last shot of some ruined supports and very difficult terrain .... don't want to fail jump checks here

Still working on the exact way to present this layout.
