I'm new to this painting thing; what's the best way to do realistic water? Paint the bottom a light blue and then filling it in with something? What would I use?

Has anyone painted their pool in the CoS? I bought a set unpainted because I wanted a pool full of water. Any suggestions on how to do it so it looks at least as good as my prepainted red one?
