Re: Post your pledges here!

I'm a little scared of unpainted, but I just can't justify spending so much extra for painted this time around. I may regret it, but at least these sets seem more interesting to paint than e.g. castles. I got SO bored of painting bricks.

Re: Wildlands Pledge Manager: Set by Set Review

BTW, I'm not sure mountain trifecta pieces will work great with dungeons or caverns. They are on different scales. Erinthor uses the true 1" scale whereas dungeons/caverns uses 50mm. There may be alignment issues.

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Adding a random amount didn't work either. I have other things to try but none of it is realistically gonna happen before the pm closes.

Re: Wildlands Pledge Manager: Set by Set Review

I think some of the DH pieces are worth getting. The cave mouth is great (just got mine today!) And the bramble packs seem versatile. (Also came today!) The big centerpiece tree is also tempting, but more niche and I have heard some complain about the scale. Still, I like the idea. I don't have it, ...

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Unfortunately none of the tolerances I tried seem to unstick it (20,10,5, 0.5), but thanks for the suggestion. Not to get too mathy here, but this is a combinatoric optimization problem, even though the set is not too huge. The objective function may have multiple close optima and "get stuck&qu...

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Thanks for looking into it! It's funny how omitting just those two sets can make such a difference - as you said your program solves it in very short order without them. Yes, figuring out why ILPs get stuck on some problems and not others is a bit mysterious. As I understand it, it's an area of res...

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Unfortunately this kind of problem ("integer linear program" or ILP) is hard for computers to solve exactly in the worst case. It looks like setting a non-zero tolerance for an approximate solution also isn't helping much in your case :( There isn't much I can do to fix it. However, you ca...

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Can you send me the .csv of what you're trying to optimize? (You can get it by clicking the save button).

You could just stick it in Dropbox or Google Drive or something and pm me the link.

Re: Solving a pledge algorithmically

Have you tried a non zero tolerance?
