I thought about getting a couple of terrain trays with some scatter forests to create a "cheap" woodlands. The grid overlay seems a bit fiddly, not sure how well it sticks to the terrain tray...
The organic grid does sound like the best option.

You should check howany trees you need/want for each pack. I feel that you don't want too many trees, as you need space to play. Maybe getting a single of each tree pack and than another escrapement pack will offer more flexibility.

My fear is that it the rowboat sells miserably due to it being too expensive, is that DF will just interpret that as no interest...
I really feel that it should be more affordable. I want one but not at that price point
