Benefits of Terrain

Next-Level Immersion

Seeing a town square, war-torn battlefield, or fae forest realized in miniature on your tabletop is more immersive and tangible!

Moving miniatures around an 3-D environment invests your players in your world, ensures all players see the same scene, and shows everyone at the table where everything is. It also makes for great pictures!

Fun Random Encounters

Random encounters are common in D&D, but can feel like a slog or busywork.

By building with scatter terrain, you can assemble a unique battlefield in a few minutes, create opportunities for tactical thinking and cinematic moves, and turn any random encounter into a memorable showdown!

Environmental Puzzles

Not every encounter is a fight! Puzzles are an important part of dungeon crawling's legacy, but they can be confusing to describe entirely in theater of the mind.

By having physical levers, switches, and objects of interest on the table, you won't have to spend time trying to describe the layout to your players and they can get right to solving!

Narrative Design

Terrain is useful even outside of combat! Whether they're investigating, infiltrating, or just taking it easy around town, having houses, NPCs, and interactable objects are a great treat for your players.

Nothing sparks creative roleplay more than having a sandbox to play around in!

Interactable Objects

The tactile nature of moving miniatures around terrain makes any session more engaging.

We take that sense of play up a notch by making functioning doors, traps, lights, and more. Nothing beats the reaction from your players when you reveal a secret passage, activate a swinging blade trap, or lower a real drawbridge on the table!

Visual/Tactile Aid

People with Aphantasia can struggle with Theater of the Mind; having a physical set can go a long way!

On a similar note, our terrain is helpful for players with sight issues. The sculpted grid makes it easy to count squares with your hands, and our terrain is durable so if you knock over or drop a piece on accident, it won't break!

These are just some of the benefits to using terrain at your table! Whether you're using dollhouse pieces and aquarium decorations, crafting scenes out of foam, or using Dwarven Forge, adding a physical element to your games elevates the experience for everyone!
