For the very best results painting your Game Tiles, we recommend:
1) Watch our basic painting tutorials. These early videos featuring Stefan demonstrate some basic techniques that apply to all our sets.
2) Buy quality paints and brushes.
Important: some paints do not work well with Dwarvenite, they can develop a slightly tacky or sticky finish. While this is not a reflection of the quality of this paint, we recommend against using these brands to paint Dwarvenite. We have tested a number of popular brands. Please see the chart below.
Pokorny Artist Colours: Of course, we recommend our own paint. Stefan created the colors especially for Game Tiles and formulated the viscosity for painting Dwarvenite – no primer required.
Primer: If you’re going to prime your pieces, Army Painter Spray seemed to be the only primer we found that actually works well with Dwarvenite. There may be others out there.
Brushes: We recommend natural hair brushes – not synthetics -- for Dwarvenite. We recommend natural hair brushes – not synthetics. Click here for a paint brush set available in our store.
3) Test methodically. We urge you to test your technique, and color mixes, and review your dry finish carefully on just a few pieces before you apply paint to the bulk of your pieces.
